The ExcelTest-ALT Alloy Electro-Chemical Anti-Scale & Anti-Wax Device is a patented non-chemical wax inhibitor tool (WIT) designed for the oil and gas industry. It effectively inhibits the formation and growth of carbonate nucleus, preventing the accumulation of waxes and asphaltenes in oil wells and oil pipes. The special alloy of copper, zinc, and nickel creates galvanic cells that increase the solubility of calcium carbonate and modify solvent & solute activity, inhibiting the formation of wax scale and algae corrosion.

The device's electrochemical working principle treats the water inside the circulation water pipe, preventing scale formation in the pipeline and containers, and ablates gradually the original old scale. It also softens and ablates long-existing wax, scale, and rust, preventing and slowing pipeline corrosion. The ALT device is environmentally friendly, easy to install, and maintenance-free, making it extremely suitable for pipelines at high or low positions, in wide fields, and other places difficult for people to operate.

Paraffin accumulation is the most common cause of oil well shut-down and maintenance. The paraffin wax is molecular chain length to C20 to C50 nonpolar hydrocarbon saturation, as a separate, semi-solid liquid separated from the oil, becoming much less liquidated. So it has tendency to form crystal in crude oil and depositing.
During oil extractionthe pressure and temperature decrease to certain levels when crude oil from field to the reservoir wellhead via bottom hole. The wax and asphaltene will isolate from crude oil, and form crystalline particles, accumulating and then deposite on the pipe wall. The accumulation of waxes and asphaltenes in oil wells and oil pipes is an industrial paint-point:

  1. ALT anti-scaling device uses a special alloy of copper, zinc and nickel, totally more than 10 different types of metals. This special alloy will form a large number of galvanic cells upon contact with the fluid. Under this “electrolysis” process due to these tiny primary batteries (Micro-cells), the solubility of calcium carbonate will be increased and at the same time inhibited the formation and growth of carbonated nucleus. The micro-cell adsorption makes carbonate crystallization distorted, therefore, inhibit the forming of calcite (stable calcium carbonate crystal structure, dense, strong) of such crystals. The carbonate precipitation, in the fluid through the device, is generally converting crystal structure into a non-scaling crystal structure, which is not easy to bond metastable crystals (amorphous calcium carbonate) form. This non-scaling crystal structure is easy to flow, which caused anti-scaling effect.
  2. Anti-wax working principle
When crude oil enters the LT3F-J combined downhole device under the influence of ground pressure or pump pressure, the crude oil comes into contact with the hole of special alloy disc and forms a large number of fine columnar jets through the alloy disc holes, resulting in a flow impact to increase the liquidity. The disc surfaces release original battery electrons which act on water molecules in crude oil to avoid water scale, an important cause of the oil scaling. Meanwhile the metal ions of the alloy go into the crude oil with a catalytic role in effectively changing some of the physical properties of crude oil to prevent wax from being released from crude oil to form a solid deposition, thereby the mobility of crude oil is improved.
Waxes in the crude oil treated by the LT3F-J unit and other waxy materials that tend to clump and clog the tubing are in suspension. Under the Catalytic action of the alloy catalyst, hydrocarbon molecules, long-chain fracture, the crude oil becomes more smooth. For high waxy and low severity crude oils, this treatment can increase the crude oil APIs by 2-3 percentage points.
